About This Coloring Page

The flag of Indonesia, also known as Sang Saka Merah-Putih (The Sacred Red and White), is a horizontal bicolor flag with two equal horizontal bands of red (top) and white (bottom). The flag has a ratio of 2:3, meaning that the width is twice the height. The red color represents courage, bravery, and the bloodshed of Indonesian heroes during the struggle for independence. The white color symbolizes purity, peace, and honesty. The flag is a powerful symbol of national identity and unity for the Indonesian people. The history of the Indonesian flag dates back to the early 20th century when Indonesia was still under Dutch colonial rule. The first version of the flag was introduced in 1928 during the Second Indonesian Youth Congress, which aimed to promote unity and nationalism among Indonesian youth. The flag at that time had a slightly different design, with a red stripe on top and a white stripe on the bottom. However, it was not until August 17, 1945, that the flag was officially adopted as the national flag of Indonesia. This date marks Indonesia's declaration of independence from Dutch colonial rule. The flag was hoisted for the first time at the residence of Soekarno, the first President of Indonesia, in Jakarta. The design of the flag was inspired by the flag of the Majapahit Empire, a powerful Hindu-Buddhist kingdom that existed in Indonesia from the 13th to the 16th century. The Majapahit flag had a similar red and white color scheme, symbolizing the duality of life and death. Over the years, the flag of Indonesia has remained unchanged, except for a brief period during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in World War II. The Japanese introduced a modified version of the flag, known as the ""Hinomaru Keiki,"" which featured a red circle in the center of the white stripe. This design was used from 1942 to 1945 but was replaced by the original flag after Indonesia gained independence. The flag of Indonesia holds great significance for the Indonesian people and is prominently displayed during national holidays, official ceremonies, and sporting events. It serves as a reminder of the country's struggle for independence and represents the unity and diversity of its people.
